Avery Sunshine
Avery Sunshine combines R&B, soul gospel and jazz in his signature style. She's performed on Broadway, during the Democratic National Convention and in European festivals and clubs. Sunshine has the name Denise White. She hails from Chester Pennsylvania, where she began her career in music by singing and playing the piano in the church. Her musical career began in Atlanta in Spellman College. In 2005, she was commissioned as the primary keyboardist in Tyler Perry's stage play Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday, a Grammy and Tony Award winning vocalist who was part of the stage production Dreamgirls in the National Black Arts Festival of Atlanta in 2007, contacted her to serve as the choral leader for this theatrical production. Sunshine gained national recognition for 4 performances a day during the Democratic National Convention in 2008. She was invited to sing as part of President Barack Obama's inauguration ceremony in 2009.
