Whitney Elizabeth Houston was born into a musical family on the 9th of August, 1963 in Newark New Jersey the daughter of gospel singer Cissy Houston (nee Emily Lee Drinkard) and John Russell Houston Jr. as well as a cousin of the singing sensation Dionne Warwick.
