Jeanie Marie Buss (born Jeanie Marie Buss) is an American woman in business. She is currently the president of president of the Los Angeles Lakers, the National Basketball Association's controlling owners. Buss is the daughter of a California native, and was raised by a well-off family. Jerry Buss, her father, was an entrepreneur with a real estate business who later was the owner of Lakers Sports and Entertainment. The couple divorced in 1972, which caused her to feel that she was emotionally neglected. At 19 years old she joined the family business as the general manager for the Los Angeles Strings professional tennis team. Then, she established the Los Angeles Blades roller hockey professional team. She was the president at the Great Western Forum, before being elected Vice President of the Lakers. Buss and her five sisters took over his Lakers control following the death of Bussher father in 2013. Every sister was given an equal voice. In 2013, Buss took control of the Los Angeles Lakers. Buss is also part-owner of Women of Wrestling (a Los Angeles-based pro-wrestling group).
